Insight Millennium (Surface EMG)

Our Insight device is an amazing diagnostic tool that accurately and graphically charts imbalances in your spinal column, muscles, and Autonomic Nervous System.  It reads the amount of heat along the spine and electric current in your spinal muscles to determine how well your autonomic and motor nerves are functioning.  This is the same technology that is used in NASA's space program and for olympic athletes.

Muscle balance (symmetry) is extremely important because vertebrae in the spine depend on the muscles to move properly.  Subluxations (fixated misalignments in the spine or other joints) disturb nerve function and cause an abnormal amount of electrical current to flow to your muscles.  Abnormal electrical currents on either side of the spine cause muscle imbalance to occur. As a result, the muscles can become weaker or stronger, tighter or fatigued.

The Surface EMG scan detects abnormal muscle patterns, revealing an increased amount of tension/pull on one side of the spine compared to the other.

The Thermal Scan measures temperature differences along your spine.  When there is disturbance in the Autonomic Nervous System, the blood vessels are disturbed, and it causes the body's thermostat to malfunction. This results in an imbalance temperature reading along the spine.  John Hopkin's study of stress revealed this "asymmetry" in temperature along the spine and called it "sympathetic stress," indicating that the nervous system is losing it's ability to adapt to stress.

Finally, your blood vessels are controlled by the same part of the Central Nervous System that controls and coordinates your organs and glands, known as the Autonomic Nervous System. This thermal scan provides us with the information to monitor the Autonomic Nervous System for proper function as well as possible pathophysiology occurring in organs and glands in the body.

In addition to the Range of Motion Testing with the Insight, we are excited to also be able to perform Heart Rate Variability testing to determine how well your body is adapting to stress overall.  All four of these state-of-the-art technologies provide us with the NSFi score, or the NeuroSpinal Functional Index number.  The NSFi tells us exactly where you are on the health & wellness continuum.  This exciting technology helps us determine exactly where there are structural stressors and potentitial functional impairments in your body, how well you are adapting to stress and where exactly you need correction to open up your natural healing ability and return to an active, healthy state of living.
